The Power of Focus

We have all heard the statement "you are what you think about." Your performance and results can skyrocket with this seemly simple thought! Here are the latest facts.

Sport Physicians have predicted that athletes have reached the limit of their physical capacity to excel. The next level of athletic performance will be reached by tapping into and using the power of the mind by mentally focusing on the ideal shot or ideal run - not practicing on the playing field. Recent tests have shown that by consciously focusing on thoughts of perfect shots believing they are possible visualizing the action in their heads Outstanding performance resulted. Athletes were able to access personal potential that was previously untapped, and this potential is anticipated as unlimited.

Heightened performance is also available to each of us by becoming conscious of what we think about. Here's the relationship: Thoughts - Beliefs - Action - Results. When we focus our thoughts, we take personal responsibility to create whatever we want to achieve. Michael Jordan's success is a testament to his power of mental focus and as Thomas Edison put it, "Whatever your mind can conceive and believe, you can achieve." And, when Isaac Newton was asked how he discovered gravity, he replied, "By thinking about it all of the time."

A fun way to experience the 'power of focus' in action is to hold your arm out to your side, and visualize your arm as a fire hose. Visualize a stream of high-pressured water blasting out the end at your hand. Now have an associate or friend try to push it down. If you are really focused on being like that fire hose, they will not be able to!

So what are you thinking about right now? What are your thoughts about the day ahead? If you are worrying about problems and the possibility of failure, then that is what you will get. If you concentrate on your goals and the possibility of success, you will find satisfaction and a successful life. Our thoughts are the driving power that propels our lives.
