The Power of Your Choice

Choice - it's what separates greatness from mediocrity. Greatness comes

From recognizing that our potential is limited only by what we choose, including the barriers we choose. It takes confidence in ourselves to make choices that are right for us. While mediocrity is neither good nor bad, it's a choice to be average. We each have the freedom of choice, and we are the product of our choices and determination.

What does this mean? Greatness is in the myriad of choices that we make everyday. Such as what to wear, what project to handle, which team member to hire, which stocks to invest in, etc. It's the simple and tough choices that define our greatness. Some are made through unconscious habits while others require focused thought. When we feel stuck it is usually because we do not trust ourselves to make the 'right' decision. Focusing on one choice and taking action provides power and momentum.

Think about it. We are the same as Donald Trump, Bill Gates and Madonna...except for the choices they make and the choices we make. They have a vision, stay focused on their vision and trust themselves in making choices that are right for them. They have confidence even when others doubt.

It's been said that we are each just one choice away from greatness. Where do you choose to place your focus? Here are some options that give you power:

Choose to not take anything personally...it's another's perspective, not yours
Choose your comments carefully...your words can help or hurt and always represent you
Choose to ask questions...misunderstandings undermine effectiveness
Choose to always do your best...you will avoid self-judgment and regret
Choose to state your opinion...you increase your credibility
Choose to accept that only you can 'put pressure' on you....

When a client choose to accept that his 'pressure' and frustration was self-induced, traffic congestion no longer angered him, his golf game improved and he was promoted in his career. When he realized that he was the only one who could 'put pressure' on himself he choose personal responsibility for his life.

We each have options to choose from. Our self-trust and our will to achieve determines the chooses we make. And there's more good news! If you do not like a previous choice, you can always choose differently. Now that's freedom!
